Фестиваль проходив з 6 по 16 серпня 2025 року у швейцарському Локарно. Насичена програма, яскраві прем’єри та міжнародна присутність — така цьогорічна візитівка фестивалю. Головою журі у конкурсі змагальних стрічок був відомий режисер Ріті Пань (Камбоджа). Золотий леопард (Pardo d’Oro) — Two Seasons, Two Strangers (в оригіналі Tabi to Hibi) японського режисера Sho Miyake. Стрічка поділена на дві незалежні історії, обидві базуються на манґах Йосіхару Цуге. Журі оцінило глибоку чуттєвість та стиль оповіді. Спеціальна відзнака журі — фільм White Snail (реж. Elsa Kremser і Levin Peter) — австрійсько-німецька драма, показана як відзначена особлива робота. Найкращий режисер — Abbas Fahdel за фільм Tales of the Wounded Land, створений у Лівані й Франції.

Пардо Ґранде за життєвий внесок (Honorary Leopard) цього року отримав Alexander Payne; також вшановано Джека Чана (Pardo alla Carriera) і Емму Томпсон (Leopard Club Award), а Голшифте Фарахані удостоєна Excellence Award Davide Campari. 78th Locarno Film Festival: Japanese Sensation, Nordic Presence, and Strong Acting Impressions
The festival took place from August 6 to 16, 2025, in Locarno, Switzerland. A rich program, dazzling premieres, and international participation — such was the hallmark of this year’s edition. The head of the jury for the main competition was the renowned Cambodian director Rithy Panh. The Golden Leopard (Pardo d’Oro) went to Two Seasons, Two Strangers (Tabi to Hibi) by Japanese director Sho Miyake. The film is divided into two independent stories, both based on the manga works of Yoshiharu Tsuge. The jury praised its profound sensitivity and narrative style. The Special Jury Prize was awarded to White Snail (dir. Elsa Kremser and Levin Peter) — an Austrian-German drama, singled out as a distinctive work. Best Director went to Abbas Fahdel for Tales of the Wounded Land, produced in Lebanon and France.

This year’s festival stood out for its wide diversity — from experimental cinema to restrained auteur films. Particular attention was drawn to works from Nordic countries, while the Piazza Grande became a vibrant stage for major premieres and deepened dialogues with audiences.
