Festival d’été de Québec 2025: Canada’s premier music event is underway
One of North America’s largest music festivals, Festival d’été de Québec (FEQ), opened on July 3 and will run through July 13. The event attracts over a million visitors annually from across Canada and around the world, earning its place as the unofficial cultural heartbeat of Quebec. In 2025, the Canadian federal government allocated $1.75 million to support the festival, recognizing its importance to national culture and tourism. The FEQ takes place in the historic heart of Old Québec City, including the legendary Plains of Abraham — a site rich in Canadian history and identity. Founded in 1968 by local cultural advocates as a way to promote French-Canadian culture, the festival has since grown into a global music platform. It is renowned for bringing together rock legends, indie artists, hip-hop stars and francophone performers on one stage. This year’s festival lineup spans six main stages and includes:

In total, more than 150 performers from Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia will take the stage. The city of Québec comes alive during the FEQ. Local residents participate as volunteers, shops and cafés extend their hours, and the old city transforms into an open-air cultural venue. Ticket prices remain symbolic, in line with the festival’s long-standing commitment to accessibility. This inclusive spirit is one of the reasons FEQ is often called the people’s festival.
