У Музеї Кастельвеккіо триває виставка «Фашизм, опір, свобода. Верона 1943–1945», що розповідає про драматичні події періоду нацистської окупації, боротьбу за визволення та перші кроки до демократичного відродження міста. Проєкт пропонує відвідувачам занурення в епоху через унікальні фотографії, документи, живопис, скульптуру, архівні кіноматеріали (архів Luce Cinecittà) та інтерактивні інсталяції. Серед експонатів — оригінал протоколу засідання Великої фашистської ради 24–25 липня 1943 року. Особливий акцент зроблено на «врятованому мистецтві» — полотнах, що дивом пережили війну. Серед них: «Еліодор і первосвященик Онія» Джамбатісти Тьєполо, «Дама ліцнідів» Пітера Пауля Рубенса та «Алегорія надії» Алессандро Туркі — єдина вціліла робота з цілого циклу полотен художника. Експозиція розміщена в історичних залах Кастельвеккіо, що самі стали символом боротьби та відродження: саме тут 1944 року проходив з'їзд Республіканської фашистської партії і суд над "зрадниками" Великої фашистської ради — події, які стали знаковими для переходу Італії від диктатури до демократії. Окремі мультимедійні зони розповідають історії головних учасників тих подій — як знаних національних постатей, так і менш відомих героїв: від зятя Муссоліні Галеаццо Чіано до нацистського офіцера Фрідріха Боссгаммера, який керував депортацією євреїв із Верони, від єврейки та партизанки Ріти Розані до антифашиста й скульптора Вітторе Боккетти. Виставка триватиме до 27 липня 2025 року.
Exhibition of Rescued Masterpieces from 1943–1945 Opens in Verona
An immersive exhibition, Fascism, Resistance, Freedom. Verona 1943–1945, is now on display at the Castelvecchio Museum, recounting the dramatic events of the Nazi occupation, the struggle for liberation, and the city's first steps towards democratic renewal. Visitors are invited to delve into this turbulent period through a rich selection of rare photographs, historical documents, paintings, sculptures, archival footage from Luce Cinecittà, and interactive installations. Among the highlights is the original protocol from the session of the Grand Council of Fascism held on 24–25 July 1943. A special focus is given to the theme of “rescued art” — paintings that miraculously survived the devastation of war. Key works include Heliodorus and the High Priest Onias by Giambattista Tiepolo, Lady of the Lichnids by Peter Paul Rubens, and Allegory of Hope by Alessandro Turchi — the sole surviving canvas from an entire cycle by the artist. The exhibition is set within the historic halls of Castelvecchio itself, a place that became a symbol of both oppression and rebirth. It was here in 1944 that the Republican Fascist Party Congress convened and the infamous trial of the "traitors" of the Grand Council took place — moments pivotal to Italy's transition from dictatorship to democracy. Dedicated multimedia zones offer visitors a closer look at the lives of key figures of the era — from nationally recognised names such as Mussolini's son-in-law, Galeazzo Ciano, to lesser-known figures like Friedrich Boßhammer, the Nazi officer orchestrating Jewish deportations from Verona, along with Jewish partisan Rita Rosani and anti-fascist sculptor Vittore Bocchetta. The exhibition runs until 27 July 2025.
